Chicken Tacos
Certain dishes you don't need to mention a lot about it, they are just famous worldwide and loved by all cultures equally. Tacos seem to be one of those dishes that is loved by one and all including kids due to their bite size. The first time I tried Tacos was in New Jersey at a local food truck fest. I must say the first bite that I tried it was fireworks of different flavors in my mouth. I could not comprehend if its spicy, tangy, sweet or just plain "TASTY" and "DELICIOUS". Since then I have been in love with Mexican food and its flavors.
For those who are new to the concept of Taco, let me tell you that taco is a traditional Mexican dish which is clubbed with a Corn, whole wheat or multigrain tortilla(form of fluke rotis) and filled with either chicken, pork, beef meat. It is then topped with beans, lettuce, corn, jalapeños, sauces etc of your choice. The garnishing can consist of either guacamole, sour cream, salsa etc. Its an open playground for a cook to play around with ingredients and build a taco filled with taste and flavors.
There is no standard rule to prepare Taco, only that there needs to be Tortilla and bunch of other filings alongwith meat. Taco can be soft taco or hard taco shell, again depending on each one's preference. I tried Soft Chicken Tacos and I also toasted the tacos directly on flame to give it a little charred flavor.
Let's have a look at the recipe.
Ingredients for white Sauce:
4 tbsp Mayonnaise
1/2 cup Thick Curd
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/4 chopped Chives (I used readymade dried chives)
1/4 chopped Parsley (I used readymade dried parsley)
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Salt
Ingredients for Salsa:
1 chopped Tomato
1 chopped Onion
1 Jalapeño (Deseeded and chopped)
1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Salt
Ingredients for Chicken
2 Chicken Breast (Washed and Cleaned)
2 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
1 tbsp chopped Cilantro
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tbsp Fajita Seasoning
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Black Pepper
Salt
Oil to cook chicken
Ingredients for Taco assembling:
Soft Tacos
Taco Sauce (Any supermarket bought taco sauce should be fine.)
Method:
Mix all ingredients of white sauce and mix well and keep it aside.
Mix all ingredients of salsa and keep it aside.
In a bowl marinate the chicken with the ingredients mentioned as above and keep it aside marinated for at least 30 minutes.
In a skillet add 1 tbsp oil and once the oil is warm enough add each piece of chicken to the skillet.
Cook the chicken well on both sides and once done remove it in a plate and keep aside.
Let the chicken cool down completely. Once the chicken has cooled down cut the chicken into small pieces or strips. It is totally on each person's preference.
Take the soft tacos and toast it directly on flame for 2 mins on each side. While toasting keep flipping to avoid burning the taco. We just need the char on the taco and not toast it completely.
Assemble the taco as seen in the video and serve it hot.
